Catch up post by a naughty blogger...

Hi all, I have been a really naughty blogger as it has been a long time since I have blogged about anything. Give myself a little bit of a chance I have been extremely busy recently so much stuff going on with my job in salon, finishing up college and I haven't had a weekend with no plans for a while.

In the next couple of weeks I will be turning 25 and just recently it seems I am at the age that everytime I turn on my facebook on another friend has got engaged or another wedding invitation pops up, happy for them all of course and congratulations but I just keep asking myself what is it about this year? Well anyway couple of weeks ago my best friend came for a catch up and asked me to be maid of honour which I am so excited about helping her choose a dress, hen do and we have decided to have a little fun going to wedding fairs to try cake.

In my previous posts I have mentioned myself getting eyelash extensions, well since I have trained myself to do them. My salon did a Groupon deal for a half set £24 and longer time for £29 bit of a bargain but I have been rushed off my feet doing extensions and they are coming out of my ears. I like being busy though, nothing worse than an empty salon with nothing to do...After talking to many clients and looking at others doing extensions it does worry me that people with no beauty qualifications are able to do eyelash extensions and infact some cases not doing a great job. Most clients have an expectation of looking like a 'drag queen' from previous experiences, luckily our lashes are not too thick that they would never look like that. I'm no angel to begin with I was doing an OK job some peoples were falling off quickly but I do always have the support of the senior therapist with years of experience and after doing quite alot of sets now I am still learning but getting better it just takes practice. Surely the eye area is very delicate and can be very dangerous so if something was to go wrong who would you turn too for guidance?! When i first had eyelash extensions it was with a non-beautician she did an OK job but I felt a little awkard when I turned up to her room in a shared house it didn't seem professional it was also a little worrying that something may go wrong. Maybe I having a little winge for no reason but I just feel I have worked hard for a year studying beauty and others just step out of a one day course with a lash qualification?! Love to hear any thoughts? How do you feel? Do you prefer qualified or either? x S x

Busy Bee...

The last couple of weeks have been absolute manic I have been on holiday, moved out and working my butt off gaining more experience and being trained to do more beauty treatments alongside attending and finishing up at beauty school (college).

Holiday was amazing the weather wasn't perfect but it was nice to spend some time with my boyfriend and relax for a week. Before I left I had a few beauty treatments as it is in my perks with the job after all so I had a spray tan which I must say I have never had before and felt great having that glow before I went, I had Crazy Angel which wasn't too dark. I had a pedicure also but I decided to try out my own crystals on my big toe I put a gel top coat and cured it so the surface was completely smooth and it lasted for around three weeks. My chance to put Gel Polish on my nails came around so I put a neon pink OPI gel and it was such a lovely colour in the sun. And finally my eyelash extensions my one true love...waking up every morning, looking in the mirror and still feeling glam!

I also bought some new nail colours whilst away couldn't resist...

Sun, Sea and Beauty

So its that time again for me I'm off on holiday to relax for a whole week, topping up on my tan and reading a book! So yesterday I went into town to get some new bits as I always like to have something I have never worn before when I go away...

I needed a new beach towel and spotted a tie dye one in H&M which I love (seen in the background).
My little perks of working in a salon I am being spray tanned before  but on holiday I will use Malibu dry oil love the smell!

I love Hawaiian Tropic also I have two of their after suns which soothe the skin and also use the SPF Lipgloss as that smells amazing.

I received some Anatomical Shower Gel and Scrub in my glossybox which is perfect to take away and exfoliate to make my tan last.

I really wanted a bright nail polish for my holiday so I saw a bright pink by China Glaze. When you put it on it comes up matte but the colour is gorgeous with a glossy topcoat also.

When I'm abroad I don't tend to wear lots of makeup in the evenings  so I just take a few essentials. As I have eyelash extensions also I tend not to put eye makeup on anyway just because I don't want to shorten the life of them. So I will take my MAC false eyelash mascara for my bottom lashes, Nars Blusher is anything favourite of mine in this bright pink and I will take some lipstick to add some colour such as MAC in a coral colour and recently a favourite is Jelly Pong Pong Lip Pen in Red.

To top it off I got this bright coloured flats from primark, love the colour and bargain price! Happy Days!

What are your holiday essentials? Do you do anything to prep beauty-wise for your holidays?

Filling in the corners

After the first time of having eyelash extensions they were put on really well but found there was not enough on the corners so was not 100% happy with them. Being in my new job in a beauty salon extensions are one of the most popular of treatments and one of the perks of working there is getting top ups when they need filling. I love them so much, waking up in the morning I feel great looking in the mirror and all I have to do it brush them. I have convinced my mum also to get a set and she has had so many complimentss . So thumbs up to eyelash extensions can't live without...!!!

Not Enough Makeup

Being in beauty school and nearly coming to the end of my course I really wanted to get into the beauty industry to work and gain more experience it is something I have really found a passion for. I must say I have had quite a bad experience with one large cosmetics company...After applying 6 months before I had an interview it was all a normal interview with the usual retail parts of it about customers, products and even a math test, the area manager who interviewed me was lovely she made me feel less nervous as I was quite excited about even hearing back from them as it is one of my favourite brands I really wanted the job and would be perfect alongside my beauty course. The interview was over I was told no matter what I would hear some sort of news whether bad or good...2 months passed and nothing! So i decided to contact the manager who interviewed me rather than HR, she explained there was a mess up at head office and she was more than happy for me to interview for another position that was in a different store.

So No2 interview came along, this time as I knew what to expect I was more confident and because I have gained that little more experience in beauty I knew more about what to talk about. It went really well but then came the info...to wear more make up than I was already wearing! Now I love my make up don't get me wrong but I don't feel the need to have all of it, everyday on my face! It really did shock me as I believed it to be a more natural product company and one of my favourites but working there sounded not for me as I don't want to slap on layers of make up.

My Happy Ending
After months of applying and trying I am now working in a salon. My boss has been great helping get experience, clients and most importantly providing me with a job. Its really nice to have someone take a chance on me and help me with the beginning stages of my beauty career, it really is tough out there!
Have you had any bad experiences with large cosmetic companies? Not what you were expecting?

Seeing Red

I was reading Look Mag this week and seeing an article on Clarins granddaughters they mentioned a little beauty tip of wearing just red lipstick if you're in a hurry...I have recently been getting into red lipstick and since have my eyelash extensions I have been a little nervous of wearing eye makeup so perhaps lipstick is another option.

Some of them I may have reviewed before but they have their ups and downs...

1. Sleek Makeup True Colour-
Nice colour, goes on well but needed lipcote to stay put.
2.Jelly Pong Pong LipBlush-
Star product, so easy to apply like a lipbalm, stays put for so long and no need for lip brush, lovely colour feel like I stepped out the 40s glam look.
3.Yves Rocher-
I was very disappointed in this, I wore it to a party once  and it smudged everywhere even after lipcote, it also came off in bits which is a little embarrassing. Not for everyday use but shame because its a lovely colour.
4. Maxfactor Flip stick Colour Effect
Another stay put lippy, more subtle red and has a gold colour for as shine. Quite thing tip so easy to put on too.

Perfect Storage

Finding myself having to many glossy box boxes and not sure what to do with them got me thinking...So I had a scout on Pinterest for DIY makeup storage as I have so much at the moment and money is a little tight currently. I came across the perfect solution by a blogger  at peachfizzz with step by step guides to how to, it took me no time what so ever and it looks amazing. I customised it with some of the ribbons that also came in the glossy boxes to make cleaner edges and some cute bows but good bit of recycling. Highly recommend checking Peachfizzz blog out!!!

New Found Love...

For aggggges I wanted to get eyelash extensions, I have short stumpy natural eyelashes which I have got off my mum as she always complains of hers too and hate having to wear thick falsies everyday and putting them on before I go out. Well I thought I'd have a look at prices for a full set and came across a lady in Guildford who does them for more of a hobby, she recently trained and is looking for some regular clients so off I went...
She did a deal for me as I went to her place which is in Guildford town centre if anyone is interested let me know I will pass on details. I managed to sit still for two hours and must admit my head was a little achy but I got through it, I absolutely love the result. I went for a more glam look I guess you could say which looks like I a, wearing mascara all the time, they can last for up to 8 weeks going back for infills every so often as they drop out in your lash cycle.

I have been given quite a bit of chocolate for Easter very nice but very frustrating also as I am currently watching my weight ready for my sunny holiday to Majorca in May in which I may save it and munch it on the plane...

Wrapped in Fur...

I bought this MUA Fur Effect a while ago now and never really had the patience to try it out. So I thought I'd give it a go as I had a bit of time...
I first put a Pink nail colour on and the I pressed it on my finger. Last week I tried out the Barry M Texture and wasn't liking the results of that so when I thought about another texture nail varnish I wondered how to might turn out.

I must admit I was a bit worried it would fall off in bits as I was not too sure which bits were loose but it actually was fine. I think it would be perfect for a night out or special occasion but don't think it will be an every day polish.

March Nail Challenge-Texture

Well seeing as I missed yellow I thought I'd combine it with texture for the march nail challenge. I know its probably been reviewed a few times now but I'm not sure on the Barry M Texture paint it feels a little like I'm wearing textured wallpaper on my nails or I have caught my nail on something and its indented my polish. Well seeing as I have beauty school tonight and I have to remove polish for this I thought I'd keep it on for today see how it lasts..

What are your thoughts on this polish?

Frustrating Empties

Don't you just hate it when your handy little beauty essentials run out. I bought a pack of hello kitty body sprays from h&m a while back as i thought they were so adorable, they are very handy handbag size and they smell like sweet flavours. Not sure if they are still available but I definetly think I will be topping up for quick way to spray if you are at work, night out or anywhere...

My Famous Five Minutes...

I'm quite a shy person so in the summer of 2012 when my friend asked me extremely nicely if I would be on TV for her I was bit worried about what may happen...

The Year of Making Love, the programme in which two people are put together scientifically which I now have my doubts whether it works. My friend Natalie which you may have seen on the programme is just the normal girl that got her hopes up about a guy (which I always have with boys in the past) and she was really let down and what people do not see on TV has left her heartbroken. In my mind she will find love, she has everything going for her and when she is least expecting it it will happen and all support goes to her! Well the other night whilst I was at college I got some tweets to say I was famous and at first my heart started pumping hard but luckily I am just on the programme to look pretty but I got a little excited!

Beautiful Mummy

Well for mothers day I thought I'd cook for my mum and seeing as I wanted to know how to cook a roast I thought I'd cook one for her successful it was...
But seeing as I am learning beauty treatments I thought I'd pamper her with a nice pedicure. Beginning with a nice foot spa, exfoliate, massage, cuticle work and the a paint and nail art.

RelaXation

I just got back from a break in Belgium with my family bit cold but was very relaxing...I have been going nearly every year since I was born so for me its nice to go back as it is memories, plus the beer and chocolate as everyone most likely associates Belgium with.

Break Away Nails

I have been going to Belgium for all my life very random but as I've got older I learnt to love it and use it as a place to just relax, enjoy food and a bit of exercise...

My beauty school nail paint ban I thought seeing as it was half term and I was going away I would paint my nails and do a bit of nail art. I got the pop nail paint a while back I love the colour of this one and the brush is a perfect width for not going over the edge accidents.
